Pavilion BVB Substrates on the Floriade exhibition 2012

BVB Substrates is a leading producer of professional substrates. The BVB Pavilion at the Floriade will inform the visitor about the relationship between substrate and growth; the companies slogan “at the foundation of growth” advocates this connexion. The construction resembles a heavy hill opening up on one side towards the visitors. A huge transparent truss shows a cross section of the ground and the roots of a tree.

Inside the Pavilion the visitor is submerged in an underground world, the roof shows a glimmer of light and  suddenly the hill feels light-weight. The curved roof, carried out in transparent composite filled with various substrates, is debit to this fairy-like feeling. Under this roof visitors can gather knowledge about the production and the relationship between substrate and crop.

The auditory/seating area, that has been dug in front of the Pavilion will be created by stabilising the sandy soil. After the Floriade the Pavilion, according to the C2C objective of the Floriade, will be moved to BVB Euroveen nearby in Grubbenvorst.  The sand and soil on the location will then be neatly leveled.
